As February 27 approaches, the official date of Pokémon Day and the 30th anniversary of the franchise, Nintendo is launching a final wave of free content for Switch and Switch 2 players. These are not Pokémon to capture, but customizable elements for the user profile via Nintendo Switch Online.
Every year, Pokémon Day is the occasion for major announcements. This 2026 edition promises to be particularly important with the 30th anniversary of the license. While waiting for possible revelations on the 10th generation, Nintendo has taken the lead by offering a new series of icons inspired by Pokémon Legends: ZA.
A new series of Pokémon Legends icons: ZA
According to alerts relayed by the NSO Icon Alerts account, this collection represents the “last wave” of Pokémon Legends: ZA icons available on the Nintendo Switch Online service. Players can collect several icons featuring non-player characters from Pokémon Legends: ZA, but also sprites from well-known Pokémon like Floette, Feraligatr, Gardevoir and Mega Zygarde. In addition, four backgrounds are also offered. Each displays a distinct atmosphere while maintaining a visual identity faithful to the Pokémon universe. These items are available now and will remain accessible for one week.
130 Platinum points to unlock everything
To obtain all the icons and backgrounds in this collection, you must spend a total of 130 Platinum Points. Platinum Points can be earned through missions offered in the Nintendo Switch Online application. These missions include different simple activities allowing you to quickly accumulate points. The limited period therefore gives players a few days to complete the necessary challenges and collect the items before their withdrawal.
How to collect the new Pokémon icons
To access these bonuses, simply turn on your Nintendo Switch or Switch 2 and open the Nintendo Switch Online application from the home screen. Once in the application, you must go to the “Missions and rewards” section, then select the icons available in the Pokémon Legends: ZA collection. It is also in this section that the missions allowing you to earn additional Platinum points are listed.
While waiting for the announcements of February 27
Pokémon Legends: ZA was released last October to generally positive reception, despite some criticism regarding exploration and side content. In his review, Sam Cawley called it a “fantastic Pokémon game” that “feels like the sequel that Pokémon X and Y needed but never got.”
Attention now turns to February 27, when Nintendo is expected to unveil new information regarding the future of the franchise. If the rumors are confirmed, a first glimpse of the 10th generation could be presented. In the meantime, this final wave of free icons allows fans to celebrate the series’ anniversary while personalizing their Switch profile.
