LEGO PlayStation 1: leak reveals retro set planned for very soon

A big piece of nostalgia is brewing on the side of LEGO And Sony : according to several converging leaks, a set LEGO PlayStation 1 dedicated to the first home console from 1994 would be in development for the end of 2026. For fans of bricks and 32 bits, the idea of a PS1 to build piece by piece immediately ignited the communities.

The first details suggest an imposing set, full of references for adults and collectors. But between set number, number of pieces, price and release window, what can we really take seriously in this leak, and what still remains at the stage of pure rumor?

LEGO PlayStation 1 72306: what does the leak really say?

The rumor first starts from the Instagram account lego_minecraft_goatquickly taken up by leakers DarthBeardBrix And TheBrickNews then via the specialized site Notebookcheck. These concordant sources suggest a numbered set 72306titled “Sony PlayStation 1 Console”, with exactly 1,911 pieces. According to the reports, “a LEGO PS1 set is due to be released between October and December 2026, priced at $159.99 / €159.99, with 1,911 pieces. It would bear the title ‘72306 – Sony PlayStation 1 Console’ and would also include a controller.”

Everything points to a global launch timed for the end of the year, with a consensus on December 2026 to coincide with the Christmas period. Some price trackers even list a release on December 1, 2026. Officially, LEGO And Sony have not yet confirmed anything, but the noise is strong enough to be taken seriously, especially since the request also comes from the community: the PS1 project of AirBricks95 on LEGO Ideas had already garnered more than 10,000 supporters.

LEGO Sega Mega Drive / Genesis (479 pieces) and LEGO Game Boy (421 pieces, $59.99), but slightly below the behemoths that are the LEGO NES (approximately 2,646 pieces) or the LEGO Atari 2600 (approximately 2,532 pieces). Data from the set databases suggest a weight of around 2.3 kg, for 4 to 5 hours of construction, or a price per piece of around €0.084.

Fans are hoping for interactive functions: openable CD drawer, clickable “Power” and “Reset” buttons, even a memory card slot like on the real console which has exceeded 100 million units sold. Some also dream of micro-references to cult games like Final Fantasy VII, Crash Bandicoot Or Wipeout engraved on stickers or small brick discs. For the moment, all this remains speculative, but the 18+ positioning gives hope for a level of detail close to the NES or Atari.

LEGO PlayStation 1: when will the set be released and at what price in France?

The leak clearly speaks of a recommended price of €159.99 in the eurozone, for the same price in the United States at $159.99. We would therefore be on a high entry ticket, but consistent with the sets LEGO Icons recent gaming, and more expensive than a real second-hand PS1, often much cheaper on the French market. For an AFOL or a PlayStation collector, we are mainly talking about an exhibition item, not a console substitute.

Calendar-wise, everything indicates a window between October and December 2026, with a high probability for December, in parallel with another highly commented gaming set: the Mario Arcade Machine 72051 of 1,367 pieces, expected for August 2026 at €169.99. LEGO clearly seems to be strengthening its retro gaming line in the second half of 2026. If the PS1 follows the trajectory of the NES or the Game Boy, you will undoubtedly have to watch for official announcements then pre-orders on LEGO.com, LEGO Store, Fnac or Micromania, while keeping in mind that a leak, even solid, can still evolve on the date, price or exact content of the set.
