Perceval’s silence resonates louder than any of Léodagan’s tirades. While Kaamelott – Second Part is preparing to invade cinemas on October 22, 2025, an absence troubles the most loyal fans of the cult series: that of Franck Pitiot. The interpreter of the most naive – and undoubtedly the most endearing – of the Knights of the Round Table will appear neither in the first part of the film, nor in the second, expected in 2027.
A hard blow for all those who hoped to see the legendary Karadoc-Perceval duo launch a new wildebeest strategy in the middle of the war. But for several days, the wind has changed, and a strange scent of return floats in the air.
An assumed absence… and a more complex truth
Alexandre Astier has never been stingy with mysteries, and this new episode is no exception. Recently interviewed by Samuel Étienne, the creator of Kaamelott confirmed what the spectators feared: “There is no Perceval because Franck Pitiot, who plays him, did not return. He did not want to return in this part.”
So far, nothing surprising. An actor chooses to walk away from a project, the fans cope with it as best they can. Except that the author-director-composer didn’t stop there. In a pirouette typical of his art of the unsaid, he slipped in an unexpected precision: “So, Franck Pitiot is not in the film, for Perceval, it’s a little more complicated. I can’t say more, but it’s more complicated than ‘he’s not there’.” A harmless sentence? Certainly not. In Astier’s world, every word is precise. And this leaves a gap, a possibility.
Perceval without Pitiot, really?
What fuels speculation even more is a furtive but highly commented gesture: on an Instagram account not certified but attributed to Franck Pitiot, a parody video was shared. We see an animated version of Perceval calling out to Astier with these tender and absurd words: “Sir. I saw you on Twitch. You want to dissociate Franck Pitiot from Perceval? But me without him, it’s like a hermit crab without a shell, or a breaded escalope without breading. Do you know what I mean?”
It is impossible to say that the actor is the author of this montage, but the simple fact that he relayed it (if the account belongs to him) is enough to arouse suspicion. In the absence of official declarations, this nod fuels a shared hope: that of a return in the third and final part, still in writing.
An unfinished trilogy without Perceval?
In the first film released in 2021, Percival was still very present. True to his legendary awkwardness, he served as a comic counterpoint to the dramatic tension. His absence in the second chapter leaves a narrative void that is difficult to fill, especially since Karadoc, his eternal accomplice, will be there.
As soon as the casting was announced, many fans expressed their dissatisfaction. On the networks, boycott messages circulated, some going so far as to assert that Kaamelott without Perceval, “it’s without me”. A feeling shared by a community attached to the gallery of original characters, where each absence almost becomes a betrayal.
But Astier has already proven it: he knows how to cover his tracks. Whether Perceval returns in another form, in a vision, a flashback, or through a change of interpreter, all hypotheses remain open. And if the secret is well kept, there is undoubtedly a surprise in store.
What we know (and what we can hope for)
To date, there is no official confirmation that Perceval will be back in Kaamelott 3. But the elements are accumulating, and suggest a possible turnaround. The timing of Astier’s message, the relay of the video, Franck Pitiot’s obvious attachment to his character… everything converges towards a possible reconciliation on screen.
There is still time before the end of the trilogy. And in the world of Kaamelott, the twists and turns are rarely where we expect them.
