The Hollywood live-action film adaptation of “Naruto” is taking the next big step, as the film studio responsible, Lionsgate, has announced a worldwide casting for the three main roles. We summarize the details.

Worldwide search for Team 7

Actors from all over the world can now apply for the roles of Naruto Uzumaki, Sasuke Uchiha and Sakura Haruno. Further casting calls for additional characters are currently planned for a later date.

In an accompanying message, director Destin Daniel Cretton said that Masashi Kishimoto’s story has inspired generations of fans and that it is a great honor for him to bring the “Naruto” universe to the big screen for the first time as a Hollywood live-action film. At the same time, he was excited to find the right actors for the legendary Team 7.

Cretton directed, among other things, “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” and is currently also working on “Spider-Man: Brand New Day.”

Looking forward to the film

“Naruto” creator Masashi Kishimoto also commented on the Hollywood production and described the film adaptation of his work as an event that still feels like a miracle to him. He was particularly pleased that Destin Daniel Cretton took over the direction.

The mangaka also explained that he was already looking forward to the cast of Team 7. He hopes for exceptional and passionate actors who will breathe life into his characters.

Further details, such as the start of production, the planned theatrical release or the casting of additional roles, are currently pending. However, it can be assumed that Lionsgate will gradually release new information in the coming months. We will of course keep you updated.

The original manga series by Masashi Kishimoto has already inspired an anime adaptation, which consists of a total of 720 episodes in two series (“Naruto” and “Naruto Shippuden”) and is available on DVD and Blu-ray from KSM Anime.
