The Ghost of Yōtei universe will soon expand with the arrival of free multiplayer content planned for 2026. Confirmed by PlayStation during Gamescom, this Legends mode is directly inspired by that introduced after the release of Ghost of Tsushima. At the time, it was seduced by its richness and its supernatural artistic direction, very far from the realistic atmosphere of the base game.
In this new version adapted to Yōtei, players will be able to discover a parallel world populated by demonic enemies, with the possibility of playing in cooperation with two or four people. The clashes promise to be more intense, with creatures inspired by the Yōtei Six, revisited in giant and supernatural versions.
Classes, missions, enemies: what awaits players
This Legends mode will offer four playable classes, each with their own specific skills and tools. As with Tsushima, the mode will include two-player story missions as well as a four-player survival mode. The objective: to defeat waves of ever more formidable enemies, in a mystical atmosphere reinforced by careful artistic direction.
The main enemies are described as “giant, demonic versions of the members of the Yōtei Six”, accompanied by other new creatures with a visibly scarier design than in the main game. A rise in intensity which contrasts with the narrative precision of Ghost of Yōtei, but which promises welcome replayability.
A scripted DLC like Iki Island in preparation?
Sucker Punch has not yet made anything official regarding future narrative DLC, but statements from co-director Jason Connell suggest that it could well happen. According to him, the team first wants to listen to the community before deciding on an expansion:
“I think for us, we’ve gotten to a point in the project where we can just present it and see what resonates with people, what they like and what more they would like to know about Atsu,” he explained. He added: “It was the same thing with Ghost of Tsushima. You can listen and say, ‘Oh, okay. People seem to want to know a little bit more about this relationship or what happened to the father.’ How do we develop this character?”
A cautious, but promising approach. The Iki Island DLC had been praised for its storytelling and subtle additions to the plot. If Ghost of Yōtei follows this path, the future of the game looks as rich as its launch.
