The all-new official trailer is about two and a half minutes longer than the leaked version, and most of that extra time is devoted to animated scenes in the iconic South Park style. We see the main group of the series gathered in front of their screens, ready to play – but not without some well-felt barbs. “Actually, you’re really bad at Fortnite,” Cartman snaps. “It’s not even a joke.”
The scene that follows is typically surreal: disguised as Professor Chaos and wearing an aluminum suit, Butters uses the power of the Stick of Truth to transform the South Park school bus into a veritable Battle Bus. This transformation leads the group to the world of Fortnite… and to Cartmanland, a location that promises to play a central role in the event.
Quints: a five-player game mode
One of the most important parts of this update is the official announcement of Quints, a new way to play Fortnite. While battle royale has traditionally focused on teams of two, three, or four players, Quintuplets mode now allows teams of five players to compete together.
Epic Games confirmed in the trailer description that “Quints is a five-player game mode”, available until the event ends on February 5. This new feature responds to a frequent request from the community, who wanted to be able to form larger groups without constraints.
For the occasion, Battle Royale mecha skins specially designed for CM1 students – in the offbeat South Park aesthetic – are appearing. Although other details still remain confidential, this mode is already a game-changer and promises a more collective and unpredictable dynamic.
Practical details of the Fortnite x South Park event
- The Fortnite x South Park event begins in Chapter 7 and will remain active for one month, starting this Friday, January 9.
- The Born into Chaos Pass will be free for all players. Unlike previous mini passes, this one does not contain South Park outfits – these can be purchased separately in the store.
- The team teased additional surprises, including Towelie’s role as a sidekick, as well as other elements to discover around Cartmanland.
