An action game born on PS2 is now almost free on the PlayStation Store. Since February 20, 2026, Flatout 4: Total Insanity has been available at a bargain price for a limited time. The demolition and racing title, released in 2017 on PS4, is priced at $0.44 for some players. A temporary offer that attracts attention.
Compatible with PS5 in addition to PS4, Flatout 4 benefits from an exceptional reduction which falls below the symbolic dollar bar. PlayStation Plus subscribers have an additional advantage, but even without a subscription, the price remains particularly low. A promotion which puts back in the spotlight a series launched more than twenty years ago.
Flatout 4 for $0.44 on PlayStation Store until February 26
PlayStation Plus subscribers have until February 26 to purchase Flatout 4: Total Insanity for $0.44. Other players will have to pay $0.67. In both cases, the game remains available for less than a dollar. At this price level, the reduction completely transforms the perception of the title, initially marketed in 2017 on PS4. The promotion seems voluntary and limited in time. There is no indication of a pricing error. The game can be downloaded and played on PS4, but also on PS5 thanks to backward compatibility.
A series born on PS2 in 2004
The Flatout franchise began in 2004 on PS2. A mix of action and destructive racing, it quickly stood out for its chaotic circuits and vehicles launched at full speed. Since its launch, the series has spawned seven other games. Among them, Flatout: Head On, released exclusively on PSP. For its part, Flatout: Ultimate Carnage, published in 2007, was an Xbox 360 exclusive. Flatout 4 marks the last major opus in the series. Despite mixed reviews upon its release, it remains the most recent representative of the license on console.
Shared criticism but a return planned in virtual reality
When it was released in 2017, Flatout 4: Total Insanity was not unanimously received. Reviews were mixed, which stunted the franchise’s momentum. Since then, no new main episode has seen the light of day. This period of silence could, however, end. A new virtual reality project is currently in development for PSVR2 and PS5. No release date has been announced yet. Flatout’s intellectual property is now owned by Canadian publisher Strategy First Inc., after changing hands several times over the past two decades.
A rare opportunity for PS4 and PS5 players
With a price set at $0.44 for PS Plus subscribers and $0.67 for others, the promotion places Flatout 4 among the most aggressive offers of the moment on the PlayStation Store. This type of reduction attracts both the curious and the collectors of digital games. PS5 compatible, the title remains accessible on modern consoles without additional purchase. The offer remains available until February 26. After this date, the game should return to its usual price on the PS Store.
