A balance to find
For many, the experience offered by Final Fantasy VII Rebirth stretched a little too long, the fault of added passages not necessarily perceived as necessary, or an overabundance of mini-games. As such, Hamaguchi does not necessarily share this opinion, and for his part believes that this sensation would come from the public’s feeling of being faced with an overly saturated market, which would force them not to want to take their time on the games :
“ Regarding time management in certain sections, notably in FF7 Rebirth, I honestly don’t think they were longer than necessary. I feel like today players have too much to do and too many things to play; they therefore often feel the urgent need to conclude quickly. »
However, he remains attentive to criticism, and promises that the final part of the trilogy will offer a more balanced experience :
“ We’re working on the conclusion of the trilogy, and we’re finding a balance in how the story arcs are told and distributed to ensure the game is a little more concise. »
Improving the pace of the game will probably not be too much for this latest game, even if it is still difficult to see how Square Enix will manage this as there is so much to tell and the open world promises to be bigger. Answer in a few years, or a few months if this latest opus is announced shortly.
