The Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy is gradually approaching its conclusion. After Final Fantasy VII Remake and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Square Enix is currently preparing the third and final episode of this new version of the cult game originally released in 1997.
The project is still shrouded in many mysteries, but some information is starting to emerge. Producer Naoki Hamaguchi recently discussed several elements of the game in a discussion with Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier, providing insight into the locations and features players will be able to experience in this latest chapter.
Rocket Town and Wutai confirmed in Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3
Among the most important revelations is the confirmation of several iconic locations in the Final Fantasy VII universe. Rocket Town will appear in this third episode. This city had raised questions among players after its absence in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.
Wutai will also be present in the game. This region occupies an important place in the story, in particular because of its connection with the character of Yuffie and its role in the political conflicts of the world of Final Fantasy VII. These two locations are highly anticipated by fans, as they represent key moments in the original story.
The return of the Highwind in the remake trilogy
Another major item confirmed for Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 concerns the Highwind. In the original game, this gigantic airship allowed players to freely roam the world map in the latter part of the adventure.
The Highwind played a central role in the exploration and development of the story. Its presence in the third episode suggests that the game could offer a more open exploration phase. This feature could allow players to travel between different regions of the world and access several important story areas.
Chocobos could evolve in the third episode
Chocobos, emblematic creatures of the Final Fantasy series, should also make their return in this new episode. In the original game, players could capture and breed different types of chocobos in order to access secret areas or participate in races.
According to information provided by the developers, a system linked to chocobos should be present in Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3, but it could work differently from that proposed in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. Even if details are still limited, this mechanic should retain an important role in exploring the world.
The start of the game could take place in the Great Glacier
The developers also discussed the first areas that players could explore in the game. Icicle Inn and the Great Glacier region could appear from the start of the adventure. In the original game, these locations marked the transition to the final chapters of the story.
Their presence in the third episode suggests that this new opus could resume directly after the events of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. For the moment, no official release date has been announced for Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3. However, development of the game began after the release of Rebirth, and the first official announcements could come later in the year.
