Fantasy novel “Witch and Mercenary” gets anime adaptation + teaser


With the opening of an official website, it was announced today that the fantasy novel “Witch and Mercenary” (Japanese: “Majo to Youhei”) is getting an anime adaptation as a TV series. You can find a first teaser and a visual below.

Start next year

»Witch and Mercenary« is directed by Shinpei Ezaki (“Vivy -Fluorite Eye’s Song-”) and produced at Studio 8-Bit. Daishirou Tanimura (“Hell Mode”) is writing the script, while Keita Matsumoto (key animation on “Freeze”) is contributing the character design. The start is planned for 2027.

The main roles of the Japanese voice cast include Taito Ban (Amane Fujimiya in “The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten”) as Zig Crane and Saori Hayami (Ameri Azazel in “Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun”) as Siasha.

The original light novel series written by Kaeru Choouhoukiteki has been published by Micro Magazine since May 2023 with illustrations by Bench Kanase. A manga adaptation by Makoto Miyagi debuted in Kodansha’s “Magazine Pocket” in June 2024. Both works are not yet available in German.
