Taz Skylar, who plays Sanji in the Netflix live-action adaptation of One Piece, recently shared insights into his intensive preparations for filming. We summarize below.
Nothing eaten or drank
A few days ago, Skylar worried his fans when he shared a picture on his Instagram that showed him strength training with an oxygen mask. However, it wasn’t the recording itself that caused concern, but rather the words he used to accompany the post.
In it, the “One Piece” star revealed that he didn’t drink water for two days and didn’t eat anything for three days and that he uses the oxygen mask to stay awake and maintain his energy between training sessions. He described this experience as the most extreme in his entire career.
The response from fans was correspondingly high, as they criticized his health-endangering behavior and even held the production team responsible.
However, Skylar quickly made it clear that it was his personal decision not to eat or drink – and in no way a requirement of the production team. At the same time, he expressly advised against imitating this diet.
The second season of the “One Piece” live-action series will be added to Netflix’s program on March 10, 2026, including a German language version. The first season has been available to stream since August 2023. A third season is also already in the works, but has no date yet.
