Three phases, three atmospheres for a first season
Season 1 of Battlefield 6 is therefore divided into three phases, the first of which will arrive in just a few days.
Phase 1: Rebel Operations
The season starts on October 28 with Rebel Operationss, a first phase which introduces the Plain of Black Gold mapa semi-open setting inspired by modern conflicts for tense confrontations in the middle of an industrial zone. This raw and mineral battlefield welcomes a new 4v4 tactical mode called Point of Attack. Here, two squads compete to take and hold a series of strategic positions spread across the environment, with dynamic rotations and gameplay focused on team coordination.
According to Battlefield Studios, this mode aims to bring the competitive experience closer to that of tactical squad games, while retaining the explosive DNA of the series.
This first phase will also introduce three new weapons :
- SOR-308SC (carbine): a semi-automatic precision weapon, probably designed for medium-range engagements.
- GGH-22 (support weapon): a light or medium machine gun, designed for sustained fire and team coverage.
- Mini Scout (Sniper Rifle): A compact rifle intended for mobile snipers, ideal for open maps.
But also a new accessory: Rail protection and LPVO. These accessories add long-range aiming and tactical customization options
Phase 2: Californian resistance
November 18 next, Californian resistance will transport the soldiers to a completely different setting: Eastwood, a seemingly quiet Californian suburb transformed into a theater of urban guerrilla warfare. Inspired by civil resistance movements and asymmetric conflicts, this map offers a more intimate atmosphere, with close-quarters combat between homes, parking lots and abandoned commercial areas.
The new Sabotage mode will make its debut there. The principle is simple: an offensive team attempts to place explosive charges on infrastructure scattered across the map, while the defense must prevent them at all costs.
For the weapons of this phase 2, We have :
- DB-12 (shotgun): a high-powered, short-range weapon perfect for close-quarters urban combat.
- M357 Trait (support weapon): a heavy pistol suitable for close quarters duels.
Phase 3: Winter offensive
December 9, 2025, Battlefield 6 will put on the colors of the Christmas holidays with Winter Offensive. We will thus find an icy atmosphere with a new map located in the heart of New York State, called Empire State. The playing field combines collapsed skyscrapers, snowy streets and frozen underground spaces, creating a vertical and unpredictable battlefield.
Little information has been revealed about the associated mode, but EA is already teasing “an intense clash in the heart of a technological blizzard”. Perhaps a return of a weather mechanic to the Battlefield 2042. We will also be entitled to a new melee weapon: the Ice Ax.
EA specifies the economic model

If the game menu is still empty of any store or microtransactions, this will not last. However, EA clarifies the philosophy regarding monetization. Nothing special here, we are informed that all elements impacting the gameplay (whether maps, modes or weapons) will be free or unlockable via the game. Cosmetic content (skins, accessories, EXP bonuses, etc.) will remain optional and integrated into the battle pass system.
Improvements also to the program

Although communication focuses on new gameplay features, Season 1 also marks the first phase of post-launch technical improvements. The Frostbite engine benefits from new fixes, notably on ray tracing optimization and network stabilitytwo crucial points for competitive modes. The developers have also promised quality of life adjustments throughout the season including weapon balancing, improved control responsiveness, new matchmaking settings and an evolution of the user interface.
For now, EA and Battlefield Studios seem to be doing things well at a time when many service games are struggling to hold up. Players are also waiting to see what kinds of cosmetics will be deployed, but it’s hard to imagine crazy skins after the heavy tackles in Call of Duty.
