Epic Games Store offers a new free game perfect for GTA fans

Released in 2021, Rustler is a top-down game that pays homage to the early episodes of GTAbut transposes the action into a completely wacky Middle Ages. You play an anti-hero simply nicknamed “The Guy”left to his own devices in a world as absurd as it is violent.

On the program: inquisition, witch hunts, rigged tournaments, horse thefts and dark humor inspired by Monty Python. All served in a deliberately aged retro visual style, which evokes the PS2/PC era in early 2000.

From January 22 to 29: Rustler offered on PC, without conditions

Epic Games Store propose Rustler for free until January 29 at 11:00 a.m. ET. Normally, the game is sold $24.99which makes this offer a good deal for players curious to live an atypical experience. No obligation to stay logged in or subscribe: just add it to your Epic Games library before the deadlineand the game is definitely yours.

A game that divides… but which is worth the detour, especially free

If Rustler received a fairly mixed critical reception upon its release, this did not prevent it from building a loyal audience. Some players loved its irreverent atmosphere, its freedom of action and its absurd dialogues. Others have pointed out its repetitive gameplay and lack of polish. “Since it’s free, you can download Rustler and try it to form your own opinion. » – ComicBook.com (translated) And that’s the whole point of this kind of offer: allowing players to discover a nugget… or a big joke, depending on taste.

Between medieval humor and free anarchy, a unique experience

With its deliberately absurd missions, its bloody battles with automatic crossbows, and its stupid knights to encounter, Rustler has only one goal: entertain without restraint. The game never takes itself seriously, and that is precisely what makes it strong. “Experience feudal injustice, the inquisition, the witch hunt, and participate in the Grand Tournament. Meet brave but incredibly stupid knights. Complete twisted missions… or ignore the storyline completely and wreak havoc on the villages. » – Official description (translated)
