Each week, Epic Games Store offers one or two free games to its users. This time there is only one on the program, but it is worth the detour. Available in early access since 2024, Nightingale is offered until October 9. Developed and published by Infelxion Games, this open world survival game has a PVE cooperative approach in a rich fantasy universe, carried by the Unreal Engine 5 engine.
Anticipated access titles are rarely offered free of charge on the Epic Games Store. “It is rare that users of the Epic Games Store have access to games with early access, but this has already happened.” The opportunity is therefore ideal for discovering this strange universe populated by dimensional portals, hostile creatures and ancient mysteries.
A fantastic universe to explore alone or in cooperation
“Nightingale is a survival game open in PVE which highly emphasizes crafts, like most games of the genre. The PC game can be played solo or in cooperation. Whatever the option chosen, the mission remains the same: become a Realmwalker and turn back on old interdimensional portals.” The heart of the gameplay is based on exploration, resource collection, sheltering and strategic cooperation with other players.
Despite its early access status, the game already offers a complete experience. “Count about 25 hours to follow only the main story. By adding the secondary content, the total lifespan is around 50 hours.” A respectable longevity for a temporarily free offer, especially since replayability is reinforced by its cooperative mechanics and its scalable environments.
A game followed but still perfectible
On Steam, Nightingale is offered at € 29.99, and accumulates nearly 10,000 assessments. “The PC game thus obtains a note ‘rather positive’. That said, if we only filter recent opinions, the approval rate falls to 64 % and becomes ‘mixed’.” Some players point to technical concerns related to the Unreal Engine 5 and a frequency of updates deemed too slow.
Despite this, the essential seems to work: immersive atmosphere, engaging gameplay loop and real potential for progression. While waiting for the official release in version 1.0, this free life -size test will allow curious people to get their own opinion, without risk.
