Victims should be reimbursed shortly
The surprise was total among several people who played Arknights: Endfield at launch. Free-to-play is based on a gacha system which strongly encourages microtransactions, but some of them were carried out without the agreement of a few players. On the game’s Reddit forum, on thus notes several testimonies reporting unauthorized PayPal payments, with sums which sometimes amounted to more than a thousand euros. The most credible theory raised by the community is that some people’s PayPal accounts were linked to other players’ accounts.
Gryphile quickly spoke out on this thorny subject, recognizing that there was indeed a problem with PayPal, and that it was, for the moment, preferable to go through other payment channels. The company elaborated on this matter with Eurogamer, specifying that payments on PayPal would be suspended for a time, and that all victims would be reimbursed:
“We would like to sincerely apologize to everyone affected by the PayPal payment issue that occurred shortly after launch. We understand how disruptive and worrying this type of situation can be, especially when it comes to purchases and personal payment data. Here is the information we want to share with you: All affected PayPal purchases will be fully refunded. We have already started processing refunds for impacted orders. We do not store player payment information. This information is managed directly by PayPal and is not recorded in our systems. […] At this time, PayPal payments will remain unavailable while we continue our investigation with our partners to determine the cause. We will not re-enable this payment option until we are sure the issue is completely resolved. »
A false note which somewhat spoils the launch ofArknights: Endfieldand which therefore calls for caution even if the problem is now resolved. If, despite everything, you discover the game today, do not hesitate to consult our complete guide on Arknights: Endfield.
