As it was thought to be stored in the drawers after the end of the official support, Cyberpunk 2077 resurface. CD Projekt Red has just announced a new DLC planned for 2026, in the form of an amazing collaboration with Wuthering Wavesan open world action role -playing game. If the details are still confidential, the announcement immediately made the fans react.
At the crossroads of genres and universes, this alliance between the futuristic dystopia of Cyberpunk and the dreamlike aesthetics of Wuthering Waves plot. The CD Projekt Red CD game, despite a chaotic launch in 2020, has regained players’ esteem thanks to its updates and extensions. Today, he continues to surprise, as his recent foray has shown in Guilty Gear: Strive With the addition of Lucy, from the anime Cyberpunk: Edgerunners.
What the players hope to see in this collaboration
The announcement did not fail to make the community react, which hastened to imagine what this new content could contain. Some are already fantasizing on new mechanics, such as a perfect dodge automatically triggering the famous Sandistan, or the presence of Adam Smasher in holographic boss.
Others, more moderate, anticipate a more narrative direction. As a fan expresses it on Reddit: “It is speculated that the collaboration will be released when New Federation is available and with the little information we have so far, the two are very similar, so I expect less echo fights and more to a human conflict”.
Another user sees in this merger the opportunity to approach common themes: “Cyberpunk is centered on anti-corporatism and a dystopian frame, so I can see them copy these themes”, before adding: “Calcharo is a gang leader who will probably reflect gangs such as Maelstrom, Tiger Claws, etc.”
CD Projekt Red, master of unexpected crossovers
It would not be the first time that CD Projekt Red has been surprising players through daring collaborations. Already in 2019, the Polish studio joined Capcom to integrate Geralt from The Witcher 3 In Monster Hunter Worldvia an unprecedented quest. An approach welcomed by criticism, proof that the studio knows how to marry its universes consistent.
This new collaboration with Wuthering Wavesalthough more unlikely, could well open the door to new forms of cross narrative, and further strengthen the cult aura of Cyberpunk 2077. However, it will be necessary to wait: the exit is planned for 2026, and CD Projekt Red has not given any additional details on the calendar. But one thing is certain: the wait is already there.
