How to use golden keys and where to find chests

Unlike old episodes, Borderlands 4 offers four golden chests distributed across the main areas of Kairos:

  • Belton Tidal Bore
  • Launch Platform
  • Carcadia
  • The Safe

You will unlock the first one very early in the game, but the following ones require progress in the campaign. Each chest can be opened with a Golden key to get rare weapons, shield mods or exclusive cosmetics. Please note: the chests adapt to your levelso it’s better to save them for later.

How Shift codes work and tips for making the most of them

THE Shift codes are a tradition at Gearbox. Since Borderlands 2, they allow you to obtain bonus rewards limited in time. These codes, made up of 25 characters, are distributed via official social networks, streams or partner sites.

Here’s how to activate them:

  1. Create a Shift account on the official Gearbox website
  2. Connect it to your platform (PC, PS5, Xbox Series X, Switch 2)
  3. Enter codes manually via the site or in the game’s Social menu
  4. Collect your rewards directly in the game

🛑 Codes generally expire after 48h to 1 weekwith exceptions. It is therefore advisable to activate them quickly.
