It took several weeks of frustration for Gearbox to decide to correct one of the most irritating bugs in Borderlands 4: the one that caused loot to fall into the void. A small modification discreetly changes the situation for thousands of players, without upsetting the balance of the game.
Since the game’s launch on September 12, 2025, many players have complained about seeing their precious loot disappear, especially during clashes against Origo, the Primordial Guardian. This boss, perched on a floating island, had the annoying tendency to project rewards off the map, without hope of finding them in the lost loot dispenser. As one player noted on Reddit, “boss loot now bounces off an invisible wall if it’s about to fall off a cliff.”
A simple fix for a frustrating bug
The loot mechanic is at the heart of the Borderlands experience. Every fight is an opportunity to get your hands on a rare weapon or game-changing upgrade. But until now, some players saw their efforts reduced to nothing due to a simple physics bug. “Players were constantly seeing their loot disappear into thin air and not finding it later in the lost loot dispenser,” testifies TheGamer.
Origo was particularly concerned by this concern, his arena being not a closed room but a suspended island. This architecture increased the chances that objects would be thrown out of bounds, with no possible return. The recently integrated fix changes everything: loot now bounces against an invisible wall, which brings it back to a recoverable area.
Welcome adjustments… but late
The community welcomes this correction, but some regret that it was not implemented from day 1. “Adding an invisible wall to save loot is a relatively simple idea, but it should ideally have been in place from launch,” points out a player. Especially since this bug did not go unnoticed: it systematically affected the clashes against Origo and undermined the desire to replay certain fights.
Today, the frustration is less. Players, better equipped, complete bosses faster and their progress no longer depends solely on a specific item. But when the game was released, “we hoped to obtain an improvement in damage, only to see it disappear into nothingness”, recalls the article.
Other fixes while waiting for a real major patch
This fix is part of a weekly patch deployed recently. There is also a simplified method for obtaining the Bod Shotgun, as well as an unwanted return to the meta based on critical hits with the knife. According to TheGamer, “the developers took into account community feedback and fixed some minor issues.”
However, not all grievances have been resolved yet. One of the main ones remains the user interface, considered confusing by some players. And there, there is nothing to indicate that a fix is imminent. “Larger issues, like confusing user interface, will likely be resolved in a major update, if it happens at all,” the site said.
