Borderlands 4 becomes free and offers highly anticipated new content

No need to wait for sales to take advantage of an unexpected gift. Starting November 20 at 5:00 p.m. GMT, Borderlands 4 players can download brand new content called “How Rush Saved Mercenary Day” for free. A surprise announcement that comes with a tempting promise: even more content coming very soon.

A free pack with a festive flavor

As 2K and Gearbox indicated in their press release, this first “bonus pack” modifies the usual formula: it is completely free for all players. A decision motivated by the schedule and delays linked to development. The studios explain: “Players can now team up with Rush, the friendly leader of the Outbounders, to defeat the miserly Minister Screw and bring holiday cheer to the people of Kairos. Since this bounty pack is holiday themed, it was important that players received it before the end of the year. »

This temporary content introduces a new story mission in the quirky Borderlands universe, with its share of humor and chaos, just as fans love it. If it does not contain all the elements initially planned, the developers justified this choice: “With the continued efforts made to improve the Borderlands 4 experience, the team no longer had time to integrate as much chaotic content into Bounty Pack 1 as initially planned”.

A first gift before a series of other contents

Beyond this limited offer, 2K and Gearbox seem to be preparing a much more ambitious sequel. They are already promising new expansions to come, this time even richer and dictated by player expectations. “To celebrate the holidays and thank the community for their passion and support, 2K and Gearbox are excited to offer Bounty Pack #1 for free to all Borderlands 4 players starting at 5:00 p.m. GMT!* 2K and Gearbox are hard at work on the next Bounty Packs, which will be even bigger and packed with the exciting content players have been asking for. Stay connected! » This is therefore an assumed change of direction for the developers, who are banking on the generosity and listening of the community to revitalize their title.

Continuous improvements in parallel

This commercial gesture is accompanied by a more discreet but essential work: the stabilization of the game. Since its release, Borderlands 4 has undergone several major updates aimed at correcting performance problems and improving gaming comfort. Many long-requested features have been added, making the experience smoother.

If you haven’t yet dived into Borderlands 4, now is the perfect time. This surprise gift could well reignite the hype around a title which has not said its last word.
