Bloodborne Remaster on track, PlayStation’s plan is becoming clearer and fans are getting excited

Eleven years after its release, Bloodborne is being talked about again, not via a sequel but thanks to an animated film announced at the CinemaCon 2026. Co-produced by Sony Pictures, PlayStation Productionsthe YouTuber Jacksepticeye (Sean McLoughlin) and Lyrical Animationthe R-rated feature film promises a very faithful adaptation.

Meanwhile, the game gets stuck on PS4. On PlayStation 5, Bloodborne still runs in 1080p at 30 fps via simple backward compatibility, without next gen patch, while on PC you have to go through an unofficial 4K/60 port not supported by Sony. Suffice to say that the demand for a real remaster is immense.

Bloodborne film: a turning point that revives the PS5 remaster rumor?

Numerama ensures that the animated film Bloodborne will be “as brutal as the game”, with a gothic aesthetic preserved. The choice of animation rather than live action is clearly aimed at FromSoftware fans. Above all, this project comes at a time when the community is demanding a PS5/PC remaster every time Sony speaks.

On X, Radec, cited by Gamingbible, recalls that “each project PlayStation Productions was accompanied by a game in progress”: film Uncharted and compilation Legacy of Thieves, series The Last of Us and remake Part I, film Gran Turismo and GT7. Hard to believe that Sony RELAUNCH Bloodborne at the cinema without a plan on the game side.

Bloodborne PS5 remaster and PC port: what players can expect

A remaster Bloodborne PS5 would not be a simple facelift. The expectations are clear: 4K, stable 60 fps, almost instant loading times, full DualSense support. A remaster keeps the same game but modernizes the image and comfort, where a remake redoes all the content.

On PC, Frandroid has already shown that an unofficial port allows Bloodborne to run in 4K/60, proof that the engine can keep up. But this solution remains reserved for tinkerers and completely off the radar of Sony. An official PC port would finally open Yharnam to a much wider audience.

Miyazaki, FromSoftware, Bluepoint: Bloodborne Remaster on track or premature hope?

The main obstacle remains: FromSoftware. The former boss of PlayStation Studios, Shuhei Yoshidadescribe Bloodborne as “the most intimate project” of Hidetaka Miyazakireluctant to let another studio touch it. According to GamesRadar, Bluepoint Games had proposed a remake in 2025, deemed viable by Sony, but refused by FromSoftware before the studio closed.

Journalists Jeff Grubb and Mike Minotti even talk about “nothing is happening with Bloodborne” for now, FromSoftware is focused on Elden Ring: Nightreign And The Duskbloods. The film therefore inspires hope, but no remaster has been officially launched. In the meantime, hunters must settle for the PS4 version or wait and hope that the transmedia plan of PlayStation finally makes Miyazaki move.
