The big business season is off to a flying start. This Friday, November 21, Sony and Nintendo are simultaneously kicking off a Black Friday 2025 that is more aggressive than ever on consoles. PS5, Switch 2, controllers, games, subscriptions… everything goes to checkout, with unprecedented discounts a few weeks before Christmas.
On the Sony side, the drop is radical: the PS5 Digital Edition drops to €349.99, with the Fortnite Flowering Chaos bundle included. The standard version with reader is offered at €449.99. As for the very recent PS5 Pro, it comes in at €100, a surprise for a model that is still young on the market. And that’s not all: the PlayStation Portal loses €20, controllers up to €30, and even the VR2 headset is on sale.
The duel of the PS5 and Switch 2 consoles on sale
Opposite, Nintendo was quick to respond. Amazon has an explosive offer on the Switch 2, which includes Mario Kart World for only €454.90. A rare pricing maneuver on the part of Nintendo, which traditionally jealously protects its prices, especially for its new consoles.
Taking into account the usual price of the game (around €70-80), this amounts to paying for the console alone well below its list price. The timing is perfectly calculated to appeal to families and multiplayer fans who have not yet switched to next-gen. The editor of the article sums it up bluntly: “Mario Kart World is the title that alone justifies the acquisition of the console for millions of players”.
How far will the discounts go this year?
These two commercial operations reveal a common strategy: conquer the living room before Christmas. Sony is banking on the power of its ecosystem, with discounts on all fronts, from hardware to games (up to –75% on the PlayStation Store), including PS Plus subscriptions, offered with 33% off. Even upgrades to Extra or Premium offers are affected.
At Nintendo, the goal is clear: transform Mario Kart World into an unstoppable argument and establish the Switch 2 as the reference family console. With such an aggressive offer from November, stock shortages seem inevitable. “Amazon is starting a race against time,” market observers point out.
This Black Friday promises to be one of the most decisive of the decade for the two Japanese giants. One thing is certain: at these prices, waiting no longer makes sense.
