Since its release on October 10, 2025, Battlefield 6 has progressed at the rhythm of its seasons. Each new update brings additional maps, temporary modes and equipment. However, some players believe that the volume of cards added remains modest compared to certain direct competitors.
Faced with comparisons with Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, which has multiplied the maps since November 2025, producer Alexia Christofi spoke to clarify the situation during an interview with GameSpot.
Why Battlefield 6 isn’t releasing more maps per season
Asked about the pace of deployment of the new maps, Alexia Christofi admitted that the team would like to offer more. She said: “In terms of pace, we would like to create a lot more maps” She then clarified that teams are limited by the time and resources available: “We are just trying to bring content to players as quickly as we can create it” These comments highlight a technical reality. Battlefield 6 maps are designed for large-scale clashes, incorporating vehicles, large environments and destructible elements. Their design therefore requires more work than more compact cards.
A comparison with Call of Duty difficult to make
Since its launch in November 2025, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 has added eleven maps, including seven new and four remastered, not including additional temporary variants. Battlefield 6, for its part, introduced three over the same period.
However, Call of Duty maps are designed for smaller lobbies and more limited areas. Battlefield focuses on much larger maps, with complex vehicle management, multiple objectives and dynamic systems. Both franchises have also enriched their respective battle royale modes, an element often forgotten in quick comparisons.
Content confirmed for the rest of season 2
The next wave of content will arrive on March 17. It will include the Hagental Base map, the Nightfall temporary event, two new weapons and a new motorcycle. A second update is planned for April 14. It will add the Operation Augur temporary mode, a new vehicle as well as updates for Battlefield Portal.
The legacy of Vince Zampella and the future of the franchise
During the same interview, Alexia Christofi discussed the recent death of Vince Zampella, former head of Battlefield and major figure in the sector. “We will not lose any of his heritage, because now it is about making him proud”
She also explained that Bryon Beede, current general manager of Battlefield, has inherited many leadership qualities, although the appointment of a new manager depends on a higher authority.
Today, Battlefield 6 is developed under the Battlefield Studios banner, bringing together DICE, Ripple Effect, Motive and Criterion. The exact number of developers still involved in the project has not been confirmed, but the studio says it wants to continue to enrich the game over the seasons.
