Ten years after dominating the debates against Call of Duty, Battlefield is attempting a return to the forefront with an episode designed as a reconciliation. Launched this October 10, 2025, Battlefield 6 intends to forget the chaotic launch of Battlefield 2042 by focusing on a return to basics: realism, vehicles, huge maps and total war. But this is not Electronic Arts’ only weapon. To everyone’s surprise, the game is already offered at a reduced price on Amazon : 61.99 euros instead of the usual 79.99 euros on PS5, an immediate discount of 23%. A first for a AAA of this scale, still on pre-order a few hours before its official release.
This commercial strategy is striking. While the major licenses compete for additional paid content, EA seems to want to strike hard and fast. By offering a reduction from D-Day, the publisher is clearly seeking to relaunch the purchasing dynamic from the first 48 hours, even if it means cutting into the margin. A way also to convince players burned by 2042whose reputation has dampened confidence in the franchise.
A Battlefield that replays the card of authenticity
Basically, Battlefield 6 marks a clear shift from its predecessor. The game offers a story-driven single-player campaign which propels you into the heart of modern conflicts in the four corners of the world, in the company of a group of elite marines. A decision welcomed by players nostalgic for old opuses, after the absence of story mode in 2042.
The multiplayer is not left out. Iconic fashions like Conquest, Breakthrough Or Rush make their return, on spectacular maps designed to accommodate dozens of players and their vehicles. Tanks, helicopters, drones and other war machines find their central place in the gameplay. Sensations are increased thanks to a improved movement systemwhich now allows you to sprint while crouching, for example. Small adjustments that change everything in terms of fluidity.
Another major addition: the return of Portal modea real sandbox that allows players to create their own experiences. Custom maps, alternative rules, remixes of classic games… the possibilities are immense. Enough to bring out a new generation of creators, and maintain interest in the game over time.
Bonuses and an offer that target early fans
In addition to the game, any pre-order entitles you to “Tombstone” pack. It includes:
- An exclusive soldier skin
- A weapon pack
- A profile crest
- An EXP boost
- A game sheet
Cosmetic bonuses which clearly target the historic fanbase of the franchise, a fan of customization and rapid progression.
Added to this is the promise of regular post-launch monitoring, with free content planned from the first quarter of 2026and several seasons announced, centered on real military operations and credible geopolitical locations.
EA plays an unexpected card here: that of reconquest through generosity. While the dominant business model has relied on microtransactions from day one, Battlefield 6 takes everyone on the wrong foot with direct discounting, extensive single-player content, and powerful creative tools. It remains to be seen whether this formula will appeal to players in the long term… or whether Call of Duty will maintain its lead in the minds of the general public.
