For months, rumors have been circulating relentlessly among Assassin’s Creed fans. This time, Ubisoft puts an end to the suspense. The French publisher has confirmed the existence of the Assassin’s Creed 4 Black Flag remake, now titled Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced. The announcement was made via the franchise’s official blog, accompanied by a first visual featuring the famous pirate Edward Kenway.
Initially released in 2013, Assassin’s Creed 4 Black Flag has become one of the most popular episodes of the saga. Its mix of maritime exploration, piracy and action had an impact on players. More than a decade later, Ubisoft is preparing a new modernized version of the title.
What the previous episode of the Assassin’s Creed saga revealed
Before this announcement, Ubisoft had mainly communicated on the overall future of the franchise. The publisher notably gave news of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, as well as two projects still known by their code names: Codename Hexe and Codename Invictus.
But the question that came up most often concerned the Black Flag remake. In its message published on the official blog, Ubisoft responded to the rumors with a formula well known to fans of the saga: “Speculations around Assassin’s Creed are not new, but it is worth remembering: “Nothing is true. Everything is permitted. » Except that, in this specific case, some rumors seem more founded than others. Stay tuned. »
The message was accompanied by concept illustrations showing Edward Kenway standing on the yardarm of a ship. These are not gameplay images, but they clearly confirm the identity of the project.

What release date for Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced?
For the moment, Ubisoft remains discreet on the precise release date. Official information is still limited and the publisher has not given any detailed timeline.
Several reports previously suggested a release in early 2026. However, this scenario now seems unlikely. The remake would be one of the games that Ubisoft has decided to push back to early 2026.
The mysterious project affected by this postponement could finally be released before March 31, 2027, the date corresponding to the end of Ubisoft’s fiscal year. If this information is confirmed, the launch of the remake could therefore take place between 2026 and early 2027.
What the Assassin’s Creed Black Flag remake could change
Even if Ubisoft has not yet revealed the gameplay, several reports already give an idea of the developments planned for this new version. The remake could introduce more RPG elements, a completely reworked combat system, and more side content. Some reports also suggest a significant reduction in sequences set in the present, which divided players in previous episodes.
The project has long been a poorly kept secret. Edward Kenway’s voice actor, Matt Ryan, had himself hinted at the existence of the remake. The appearance of the game on a classification body in December 2025 had also reinforced suspicions. Since then, Ubisoft seems ready to gradually reveal more information about Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced. Fans are now waiting for the first gameplay images and especially the official confirmation of the release date.
