Arknights: Endfield is launching for free on PS5, PC and mobile, an opportunity not to be missed

The catalog of free games welcomes a promising new addition with the release of Arknights: Endfield. Developed by Hypergryph and published by Gryphline, this 3D RPG offers a hybrid experience, between real-time strategy, base construction and dynamic combat. Accessible now on PS5, PC, iOS and Android, it does not require any PS Plus subscription.

The game immediately stands out for its unique visual universe. Halfway between the futuristic style of Cyberpunk 2077 and the colorful artistic direction of Genshin Impact, Arknights: Endfield also evokes the terrain mechanics of Death Stranding. An astonishing combination which has already earned it the attention of many curious people.

A ruined planet to rebuild: Talos-II as a playground

The scenario takes place on Talos-II, a moon colonized more than 150 years ago by pioneers from Terra. Cut off from their home planet, these colonists had to learn to survive on their own. Today, Endfield Industries is trying to restore some semblance of civilization by exploiting local resources.

In this semi-open world, the player plays an administrator in charge of an industrial complex. He must manage the construction of buildings, organize his team and participate in real-time clashes. The universe is vast, hostile, and requires a real strategy in the approach.

First feedback from critics: a generally favorable reception

Just launched, Arknights: Endfield boasts a Metacritic score of 79 based on early feedback. The specialized press particularly praises the balance between management and action. CMMagazine is enthusiastic: “Arknights: Endfield combines fluid combat, elaborate factory construction and a Death Stranding-style building system to create a one-of-a-kind gacha RPG.”

Other media highlight the graphic quality and effective handling. RPG Site notes: “I really like what I saw in Endfield. The combat system seems really engaging and the graphics are some of the best looking I’ve seen for a gacha game.”

However, not everyone shares this opinion. TheGamer has reservations about the overall pacing: “I can’t help but be a little disappointed with Arknights: Endfield. On paper, it has all the makings of a great gacha game, and with a few upcoming updates, it could potentially become one. But for now, the experience is slow and often tedious.”

A free game… but with a well-known economic model

Like many titles in the genre, Arknights: Endfield offers in-app purchases. The game works on a classic gacha system: players can recruit new characters or items randomly, with the possibility of progressing more quickly via a paid Battle Pass.

This model divides. It provides free access to generous content, but can be frustrating for those who prefer to unlock everything without going through the wallet box. For now, there are no purchase requirements hindering the core experience, which should appeal to curious players without commitment.
