A narrative game between emotion and metamorphoses
The player embodies Astrida spirit guide capable of switching between her human form and a lupine form, in a hand-drawn supernatural universe. The story follows Astrid’s grief and quest for acceptance, haunted by the disappearance of her partner Eri. It is in this Valley of Souls that she must progress, solve environmental puzzles and face corrupted spirits.
As the official game sheet on Steam explains, “Shadow’s Grove is an emotionally driven action-adventure game that follows the journey of Astrid, a young spirit guide who struggles to come to terms with the loss of her lifelong companion, Eri.”
If the gameplay evokes Zelda-style puzzles and progression, the general tone of the game, darker, summons the emotional intensity of a God of War. “In this journey, you will guide Astrid through a world brimming with heart and mystery, discovering the true nature of the afterlife while forging an unbreakable bond with Eri.”
