The end-of-year holiday period has become, over the years, a privileged marketing playground for video game giants. Everyone is doing their own thing: massive sales at Steam, free games at the Epic Games Store, surprise Advent calendar at PlayStation… and Nintendo is not left out.
To end the year in style, the Japanese firm is relaunching its special operation Nintendo Switch Onlineintended to reward the loyalty of its subscribers. This year again, exclusive avatars can be unlocked each day on the platform.
A well-oiled daily schedule
This digital gift program takes the form of a temporary back online avatars already offered throughout the year. Each day highlights a different game from the Nintendo Switch catalog, with associated aesthetic rewards: character avatars, backgrounds, decorative frames, etc. The selected titles are representative of the great successes of 2025, among which we find:

- 29/12 and 6/01 : Xenoblade Chronicles

A touch of personalization that hits the mark
Although purely aesthetic, these avatars provide a fun way to personalize your profile and to mark its attachment to the Nintendo universe. The ability to recover items missed during the previous year is also a real plus for collectors and newcomers. This campaign reinforces Nintendo’s community dynamic, always focused on accessibility and user-friendliness.
A smart and effective loyalty tool
Through this operation, Nintendo reminds that it is not necessary to promise paid bonuses or DLC to keep players engaged. A simple series of cosmetic gifts, well staged and easy to unlock, is enough to transform the user experience into daily ritual during the holidays.
At a time when the Switch 2 is slowly taking over from the previous generation, this type of initiative helps to make the Nintendo ecosystem a warm and familiar space for all player profiles.
