Among the notable changes, the Bettina receives a size adjustment. “These changes aim to make the Bettina less dependent on a secondary weapon. The weapon should now perform better in PvP, without unbalancing its operation.” Durability burn rate is drastically reduced, while magazine capacity increases from 20 to 22 ammo. Reloading is also faster, providing a better cadence in combat.
As for the Rattler, Embark wants to bring it slightly closer to its competitors in PvP without removing it from its defensive role. The size of the magazine thus increases from 10 to 12 bullets. Other modifications concern the Shredder, with better responsiveness, increased mobility and reinforced strength of its head to avoid certain bugs.
Maps, items and events: a subtle but strategic overhaul
The Stella Montis map has been reworked, particularly in terms of player appearance distance. Other technical adjustments improve visibility through glass and consistency of item and loot spawns. Across all maps, static chests are now replaced by dynamic spawns, which revives the interest in exploration.
The “Flickering Flames” temporary event adds tension during missions, while players can expect rare items from lightning bolts during electromagnetic storms. The Aphelion weapon blueprint, meanwhile, is now moved from the Matriarch to Stella Montis.
More customization and fixes welcome
The update finally includes customization of looter tools, a display of the credit limit in the wallet and a host of fixes. Among the most appreciated, a solution to the appearance bug without equipment, corrected animations during interactions or even an improvement in directional sound during combat.
Achievements are now enabled in the Epic Store, and there is an option to enable or disable aiming depending on the player’s preferences. On the performance side, several major crashes, notably on certain maps or when returning after alt-tab, have been corrected.
The capped credit portfolio: an accepted decision
Last major change: the addition of a ceiling for credits. A limit of 800 units has been put in place to encourage players to spend regularly in the in-game store. “We believe that raider decks provide a rewarding experience to savor while players engage in the game, and an overly full Credit wallet defeats this purpose.” Don’t panic though: credits accumulated before this patch will not be deleted.
With Cold Snap, Arc Raiders enters a new phase of its development, combining technical precision and the desire to renew the experience of its active players. It remains to be seen how the community will welcome this major expense.
