Release planned for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series
Designed under Warcore Engine, the brand new game engine from Creative Assembly, this title will allow us to conquer a dark galaxy ravaged by wars. in the 41st millennium, during the Era Indomitus period (or Age of the Dark Imperium). Unsurprisingly, progression among the stars will be turn-based and will require us to intelligently manage the development of our empire (economic growth, improvement of the worlds we control, etc.). As for the battles fought on each planet, they will take place in real time.
As for factions, only four will be available at launch: Space Marines, Orks, Aeldari and Astra Militarum. However, in return, the developers promise us that they will have radically different gameplay characteristics. In addition, we should have the freedom to personalize the smallest details of each of our armies (name, colors, coat of arms, equipment, tactics, etc.). It now remains to be seen whether all these features will be sufficient to compensate for this particularly thin day one roster which, as you can imagine, will expand in the long term, through free updates and paid expansions (the Chaos Space Marines are notably in the studio’s plans!)
Total War: Warhammer 40,000 doesn’t have a release date yet but it is planned for PC via Steam, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series. If you are interested, note that a round table with several members of the production team will be organized live on December 16. On the other hand, to be entitled to more concrete gameplay presentations, you will have to wait until spring 2026. To be continued!
