Deployed on December 9, 2025, Battlefield 6 update 1.1.3.0 is at the heart of strong criticism. While the patch aimed to end Season 1 on a high note, testimonies are piling up on Reddit and Twitter to denounce a clear deterioration in performance. The main concern? Jerks that ruin immersion in the middle of the game, especially on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
This patch, called “Winter Offensive”, was to bring a series of expected improvements, including a new snowy map, Empire State, a temporary mode with freezing mechanics, as well as new equipment such as the ice climbing axe. But despite this enticing content, some players find themselves struggling with repeated FPS drops, to the point of making the game unstable for some.
Frequent stuttering reported by gaming veterans
The most virulent negative feedback, however, comes from experienced players. On Twitter, content creator TriggerBF says he’s never experienced any issues before: “I’ve had 400 hours of play on Battlefield 6 with no performance issues. But since today’s update, I’ve been experiencing stutters every 5-20 seconds.”
The irony is that this update was specifically intended to make the clashes smoother. DICE said it had improved the hit registration system in close combat, refined weapon handling, and improved audio readability. But for some users, the opposite is true.
Fortunately, the development team does not deny the situation. Florian, lead game designer at DICE, responded by saying that “the team is currently investigating” these issues. A response which reassures, without completely calming the critics, in a context where the transparency of the studios is closely scrutinized.
New features, bugs… what does patch 1.1.3.0 contain?
Officially, the December 2025 patch introduces the following:
- A winter version of the Empire State map, with icy streets and seasonal visuals
- A new event mode with the “freeze” mechanic
- A new melee weapon, the Ice Climbing Ax
- General balancing: weapon handling, bullet impact, sound readability, etc.
- Changes to Breakthrough and Rush maps
But it is above all a strange bug which is agitating the forums: a problem with detection of shots in the shooting range. Players report that even when clearly missing their targets, shots seem to be counted. This is despite DICE promising to have “improved impact accuracy in fast-paced or close-range situations.”
What can we expect from Battlefield 6 Season 2?
With this patch, DICE officially closes Season 1 content. The rest now depends on the next season, scheduled for January 2026, according to rumors. Several leaks give hope for the return of emblematic weapons such as the MG5, the CZ Bren 2, or the AH-6 Little Bird helicopter.
In the meantime, players frustrated by the bugs will have to wait for a possible hotfix. If the performance issues persist, it could tarnish the good launch that Battlefield 6 had when it was released last October. The studio now has a month to turn things around before the new season kicks off.
