After years of absence, one of the most legendary – and controversial – weapons in Fortnite is preparing to make a resounding return. The Infinity Blade, removed from the game only three days after its appearance, returns in Season 7 of Chapter 1 of Fortnite OG. A return as feared as expected, which revives memories of the first hours of Epic Games’ Battle Royale.
A relic of the past resurfaces
Fortnite OG has established itself as a true homage to the beginnings of Battle Royale. This temporary mode, based on the map and mechanics of Chapter 1, appeals to veteran players and newcomers alike. While season 7 of this mode is about to begin, a legendary element is preparing to return: the Infinity Blade.
This sword is not a simple cosmetic item or an innocuous addition to loot. It is one of the most powerful items in the history of the game, to the point of having been removed only three days after its initial arrival, as it unbalanced competitive games.
Unrivaled power, but at what cost?
The Infinity Blade stood out for its raw power. In exchange for all the player’s items, it offered considerable benefits: 200 life points, 200 shield points, and 50 life points recovered with each elimination. Its main attack dealt massive damage, capable of changing the outcome of a match in an instant.
As reported by the specialized media PCGamesN, this return arouses a mixture of excitement and concern among the community. While some are delighted to be able to wield this legendary weapon again, others fear its impact on the balance of the game.
A delayed, but inevitable return
Epic Games confirmed that the Infinity Blade will be reintroduced later in the seasonwithout specifying an exact date. Fortnite OG Season 7 begins on December 11, 2025and the developers seem to want to spread out the new features to keep players engaged.
At the same time, the announced update will also include winter elements on the map, as well as the return of iconic skins. The objective is clear: to revive nostalgia while offering attractive content for the end-of-year holidays.
A symbol of Epic’s creative freedom
This return of such a controversial item is a testament to the freedom that OG mode offers. Unlike competitive mode, Fortnite OG allows Epic Games to reintroduce unbalanced elements, simply for fun. The Infinity Blade thus once again becomes a tool for experimentation, a nod to a time when gaming was more chaotic, but also more daring.
