But… wouldn’t it have been more logical to skip F1 25 instead?
If we still don’t know a lot about this future update (exact content, price, etc.), the American publisher and the British studio have indicated that it will include “the main changes planned for the 2026 season”such as “new cars, updated sporting regulations, as well as updated teams and drivers”. As for F1 27it will aim to propose “a redesigned and richer EA Sports F1 experience”without further details at the moment. And if you were hoping to learn more from Lee Mather, Senior Creative Director on the series, you’ll be disappointed given that he only said this:
“F1 25 has been an incredible success, driven by the passion of the fans and the energy of the sport. With the current dynamics of Formula 1, on and off the track, it is the ideal time to plan and prepare for the future. We are fully committed to the EA Sports F1 franchise. Our multi-year plan continues this year’s excitement with the 2026 expansion and reimagines the F1 experience for 2027 to deliver even more to players of all levels around the world. »
While waiting to find out more, there is no doubt that fans will find plenty of room for debate on this strategic choice made by EA and Codemasters. On the one hand, seeing the franchise “take a break” may allow developers to take the necessary time in order to restore its image after several difficult years. On the other hand, we could wonder if it would not have been more logical or interesting to “ignore” F1 25 and come back in force in 2026. An idea that we took care to share in an editorial published last March. To be continued!
