The “California Resistance” update, deployed on November 18 on Battlefield 6will not have lasted long. Less than 24 hours after its release, EA and Battlefield Studios released an emergency patch to correct a major issue: the abnormal behavior of defibrillators used by the Support class.
As soon as the patch was applied, many players reported a frustrating change in the way they revive teammates. Where the tool previously allowed rapid use, even in motion, the new version required slow, imprecise and often ineffective gestures.
Immediate return to the old operation
Faced with discontent, the developers chose to restore the old mechanics. The patch released this November 19 once again increases the impact zone and the scope of the defibrillator, returning it to its original state. Although no technical explanation was provided for this unexpected change, player feedback clearly weighed heavily. Among the many complaints noted on social media, some reviews sum up the discomfort: “At first I thought it was just an unnecessary reduction in range” “but it’s also much more inconsistent and it’s easy to end up with bodies stuck in a state where the defibrillator doesn’t work at all, and you have to grab/drag them.” “Overall I hate it, but this second part makes me think it wasn’t really intentional.”
Other important adjustments with this update
This patch was not limited to the return of defibrillators. The mode Sabotagerecently introduced, has also been revised: the exclusion period for inactivity goes from 60 to 180 seconds, and the replacing players with bots has been temporarily disabled.
THE challenges have also undergone numerous modifications. Here are some examples:
- Long-range headshots : distance reduced to 75 or 125 meters depending on the class
- Challenges removed : some like “Engineer 3” or “Protection Expert 3”
- Gameplay Adjustments : fewer constraints for random shooting or remote eliminations
Finally, EA announced that new cards and of additional content are coming soon, with the “Winter Offensive” update scheduled for December 9.
Battlefield 6 continues its season 1 with caution
Launched on October 10, 2025, Battlefield 6 is just beginning its first season of post-launch content. Despite a promising start, community feedback has highlighted several imbalances. Today’s patch illustrates the developers’ desire to quickly adapt to player expectations.
Between technical fixes, rebalancing and regular updates, BF Studios seems determined to refine its service game to meet modern standards of multiplayer FPS.
