Cities Skylines changes studio, license passes to Iceflake Studios, Colossal Order leaves

Another architect is requested

A major upheaval is taking place within the license Cities Skylinessince it changes hands. Paradox indicates today that it has decided to end its collaboration with Colossal Order, by mutual agreement :

Development of the Cities: Skylines franchise will be handled by another studio under Paradox Interactive, and Colossal Order looks forward to leveraging its experience into new projects and exploring new creative opportunities. Both companies are excited about the future, while remaining deeply grateful for their shared history and the Cities community. »

It is obviously not a question here of letting any tension appear or of showing that Cities: Skylines II is in danger. On the contrary, Paradox wants to save face and indicates that his home studio, Iceflake Studios (Surviving the Aftermath), will now monitor the license, including future updates of this episode :

Specifically, Iceflake will support all current and future development of Cities: Skylines II, including free updates for the current version, continued development of the Editor and console versions, as well as future expansions and content packs. Cities players will be able to enjoy updates and additional content for many years to come. »

Cities: Skylines II should therefore continue to be updated in the future, and Colossal Order leaves its baby with one last update which fixes some bugs while implementing bikes. Iceflake Studios will officially take over at the start of 2026, and we’ll see what happens to Colossal Order afterwards.
