The words of ex-employees are freed
After a protest movement which took place in front of Rockstar’s British premises, the union has now filed formal complaints to bring this matter to court (information relayed by Game Developer). This follows requests for a meeting with Rockstar management, who refused negotiations. The subject was also addressed by the elected official Christine Jardine in the middle of a session of the British Parliament, in order to investigate with the help of ministers what really happened, something which was accepted.
Video game giant Rockstar has sacked more than 30 workers across the UK, including my constituents working at their Edinburgh office. I urged Ministers to support workers who have lost their jobs, and stop this from happening again.

In other words, it is starting to be difficult for Rockstar to put the subject under the rug, especially as the testimonies multiply. The People Makes Games channel published a video of the demonstration which took place in front of the studio’s premises in order to interview the people concerned.
What emerges is the fact that the union was close to obtaining the legal number of members to be officially recognized within the studio, while measures were going to be put in place in 2026 to help employees unionize more easily. Rockstar would then have chosen to make these layoffs to prevent this.
Rockstar must now face an official complaint and must ensure that it provides information to prove its version, if it does not want to have a hell of a legal conflict on its hands.
