FX is not letting go of the Alien universe. The series Alien Earthinspired by the cinematic universe of Ridley Scott, will return for a second seasonas officially confirmed by the American channel. Its creator, Noah Hawleyimmediately signed a new global contract with FX and Disney Entertainment Television, sealing a long-term collaboration with the studio.
According to Deadlinethis agreement would amount to several million dollars and will not only cover the continuation ofAlien Earthbut also other projects in advanced development within the Disney group.
Filming in London, new impetus for the series
The first season, critically acclaimed with 94% on Rotten Tomatoes And 85/100 on Metacritichad been filmed in Thailand. For season 2, the setting changes: filming is planned for London in 2026.
FX announces that it wants to capitalize on the visual scale of the series, while continuing a character-centered narrative, Hawley’s trademark since Fargo. The president of FX, John Landgrafemphasizes: “Noah never ceases to surprise us with truly original stories – and his unique ability to bring them to life as a director, producer and writer makes him exceptional.”
An Alien universe larger than ever
The critical success of the series, coupled with the aura of the name Aliengave to FX a new franchise with great potential. The adaptation was produced with the direct support of Ridley Scott via Scott Free. David W. Zuckerpresident of the company, is among the executive producers.
The first season brought together Sydney Chandler, Timothy Olyphant, Essie Davis, Samuel Blenkin and extensive international distribution. The series quickly established its style, between science fiction thriller and human drama.
