The Outer Worlds 2: the new update fixes major bugs, here’s what changes

PS5 players can take a breath: update 1.0.5.0 The Outer Worlds 2 is finally available, and it tackles the game’s most frustrating problems head-on. Deployed on November 12, 2025, this patch from Obsidian Entertainment fixes dozens of bugs reported by the community since the game’s launch on October 29.

Between crashes linked to ray tracing, frozen characters, blocked dialogues, and impossible-to-complete quests, this version 1.0.5.0 addresses critical flaws in all of the game’s systems. Several fixes specifically concern the PS5 version, with a focus on stability, companion artificial intelligence and general performance.

From crashes to quests, an avalanche of fixes

One of the visible priorities of this patch concerns technical stability. Obsidian reports that it has fixed “a crash related to ray tracing”, as well as an issue where “the game could crash when moving to new areas with frame generation enabled on Nvidia GPUs”. Other extremely rare crashes linked to death by falling or interrupted dialogues are also eradicated.

The main and secondary quests, often sources of blockages, are also unlocked. Some entire sequences were impossible to complete, like “The Brain Benders of Auntie’s Choice!” or even “The Saboteur of Paradise”. The latter was receiving critical adjustments, with a misplaced quest indicator or progression conditions not triggered.

Another black point corrected: the companions. In some situations, they simply refused to act or remained frozen. This is no longer the case. Obsidian claims to have “improved the survival of companions, especially on Hard and Very Hard difficulties”, and fixed situations where “talking to a companion prevented them from resuming their normal behavior”.

Interface, graphics and equipment: better everywhere

Beyond progression bugs, this update refines the user experience. Elements such as “the color of the eyebrows which were not recorded”, or even “the ‘Inez wants to speak’ icon which remained displayed” have been corrected. Even helmets and prosthetics have received special attention to avoid visual conflicts.

The patch also improves the visual consistency and graphic atmosphere of the game. The developers have for example “removed access to out-of-bounds areas”, “corrected stretched texture issues”, and “improved the quality of shadows in the Horizon Point station”.

Gameplay-wise, several key objects change their behavior. The Bomb Suit now correctly reduces explosive damage taken, while the Menacing Mask limits its sneak attack bonus to light melee weapons. Even pets on board the ship become accessible without additional conditions.

Finally, for the more meticulous, Obsidian corrected “several spelling and grammar errors”, as well as quest texts which displayed incorrect or incomplete instructions.

Missions, dialogues and enemies: a more fluid world

The narrative experience also gains in coherence. The developers have revised several interactions with secondary characters, including Hogarth, Ruth and Inez. For example, “Inez no longer appears during the conversation in the clandestine hideout if she is not part of the group”, while “Ruth now plays her introduction correctly if the player has completed her quest”.

Enemies also gain in logic: they no longer ignore the player at certain key moments, no longer get stuck in falling animations or no longer cross the scenery during combat. Even drones or giant crabs no longer fall into the void.

With this update, The Outer Worlds 2 becomes a much smoother, more coherent, and above all, more reliable title on PS5. It remains to be seen whether future updates will continue to refine this ambitious galactic epic.
