Since its launch, the PS5 Pro has positioned itself as a console designed for technology enthusiasts. But beyond the numbers on paper, certain functions remain largely under-exploited by players. One of them is now being talked about again, a year after its discreet appearance in the system settings.
And this time, it’s not just a gimmick: this option can radically transform the gaming experience on PlayStation 4 titles.
A giant library sublimated on PS5 Pro
The function in question allows access to more than 8,500 PS4 games via the PS5 Pro, with improved image quality. Accessible in Settingsher name is “Improve image quality for PS4 games”. Once activated, it improves the rendering of compatible titles without requiring a specific game update.
Be careful, however: to benefit from it, you must use a compatible screen 2160p or 1440p at 60 Hz. Without this, the function will not be effective. This technical detail limits its accessibility to those who have suitable equipment.
To easily locate optimized games, simply go to the PlayStation Storeto open the tab Collectionsthen select the banner PS5 Pro Enhanced. A simple way to navigate this new hidden library.
Not all games are affected, but some classics really shine
This improvement is not universal. It mainly applies to PS4 games that run in native resolution 1080p or lower. For these titles, the difference is visible, with enhanced sharpness and cleaner visual processing. On the other hand, games released after 2017 and already optimized for the PS4 Pro do not benefit from this additional functionality.
Iconic titles like Bloodborne are among the big winners. Still deprived of a remaster or native PS5 port, FromSoftware’s game thus benefits from a finer visual rendering. An important detail for lovers of this demanding masterpiece.
Users are already sharing their enthusiasm. One of them reports: “I’m still playing CoD Ghost from PS4 on my PS5 Pro. It’s truly phenomenal!”
A discreet update that revives interest in the PS5 Pro
This rediscovery of a functionality that went unnoticed sheds light on an often criticized fact: the PS5 still hides many options poorly put forward by Sony. A year after the release of the Pro version, this feature could be enough to convince some hesitant players to take the plunge.
If you already own a PS5 Pro, it would be a shame to miss out on this invisible but powerful upgrade. And if you still regularly play your old PS4 games, this option could well give you a second life for your favorite titles.
