Success will still be there
No question of showing the slightest sign of concern around GTA 6 for Strauss Zelnick during his meeting with investors. GamesIndustry.biz reports that the company’s big boss is not at all worried about the impact this may cause on Take-Two, which cannot be reduced to just GTA, in particular by highlighting the release of Judasand the particularly buoyant mobile sector. And after all, GTA 6 is always planned for the same fiscal year, which should therefore not worry investors :
“ As you know, there are times across our entire company, including at 2K and our mobile division, that we need extra time to polish a title and make sure it comes out in the best possible condition. And of course, it will be released in the same fiscal year as the previous release date. »
The same fiscal year…for now. With two delays, some are worried that November 19, 2026 is not even the final release date for GTA 6. Here again, Zelnick wants to reassure everyone by saying “ confident about the date, that’s why it has already been chosen “. The CEO also returned to the impact that this could have on the industry in general, but the decision was carefully considered:
“ You are right, we are an important player in the sector, and we, like our competitors, will adapt our release dates to the competitive context. But ultimately, it’s our responsibility to do what’s right for our consumers, and that means providing them with the best entertainment experience possible. »
And speaking of impact on the industry, Zelnick also answered a question about the acquisition of one of its main competitors, Electronic Arts. How will this influence the rest of the sector, and more particularly Take-Two? The CEO kicks in (comments relayed by The Game Business):
“ It’s hard to say. No longer having a major direct competitor listed on the stock exchange could give us a bit of a competitive edge. On the other hand, we never take anything for granted. Arrogance is the enemy of success. We are always on our guard. We’re still afraid…so I’m not sure it really makes a difference. We wish our competitors good luck. A successful industry needs several important players, not just one. It is therefore possible that the competitive landscape will evolve slightly, or that it will remain completely unchanged. Either way, we have to do our job: create the best entertainment in the world. »
In short, no worries on the horizon for Zelnick, who wants to show that despite a six-month delay for his game, the results will still be there.
