PS Plus brings the best narrative game of all time to players, an opportunity not to be missed

Finding a good narrative game can be a headache in the PlayStation Plus catalog. However, one title seems to make everyone agree in this month of November: As Dusk Falls. Offered free to Extra and Premium subscribers, this 2022 interactive adventure game is conquering a new generation of players on PS4 and PS5.

Developed by Interior Night studio and published by Xbox Game Studios, As Dusk Falls offers an immersive experience at the crossroads of Life is Strange and Detroit: Become Human. The story begins in 1998 with a heist that goes wrong, then spans three decades, punctuated by decisive choices. The game’s synopsis sets the tone: “Replay the story over and over again to discover wildly different fates for the characters and explore the nuances hidden behind each decision. Will your characters survive unscathed? What kind of people will they ultimately become?”

A short, memorable and highly replayable experience

The relatively short lifespan of As Dusk Falls is one of its strengths. According to data from the How Long to Beat website, it takes approximately 7 hours to complete the main story, and 2 p.m. for a complete game with all the ramifications. Perfect for a rainy weekend or an immersive session without spending around thirty hours on it.

The game is not content with a simple linear narrative. It includes a system of trophies linked to specific choices. Several of them can only be unlocked by restarting the adventure from another angle, which naturally encourages replayability. A player summed it up on Reddit: “I’m going to get the platinum disc before it’s withdrawn.”

An unexpected favorite for fans of storytelling

If As Dusk Falls did not necessarily make an impression on its initial release, its arrival on PS Plus changed the situation. The community is full of praise. On Reddit, user OkInterview3864 writes: “My new favorite game of all time.” Before adding: “This game is now free for additional and premium content. It’s exactly what I was looking for: a fully interactive narrative game where you choose your own adventure.” And concludes: “I wish there were more games like this.”

On Metacritic, the game gets a 80 rating on PlayStationconfirming that this is not just a passing phenomenon, but a solid title. Accessible, poignant, quick to finish, As Dusk Falls ticks all the boxes for fans of well-crafted stories.
