PS Plus: 3 free games to recover urgently, real nuggets

Were you thinking of skipping free PS Plus games this month? That would be a big mistake. Sony ends October in style with a selection that ticks all the boxes: fine-tuned storytelling, unfiltered fun and clever gameplay. Better yet, these titles are available on PS5 and PS4, at no additional cost for all subscribers, whether they are in the Essential, Extra or Premium plan. But there’s a catch: there are only three days left to add them to your library.

Three universes, three radically different experiences

On the one hand, a distressing story, worthy of an HBO series. On the other, a simulation as absurd as it is brilliant. And in between, a contemplative adventure at the heart of intertwined worlds. The trio offered in October by PS Plus plays the diversity card, but not to the detriment of quality.

Alan Wake 2 returns after thirteen long years of waiting. More than a sequel, it is an ambitious revival orchestrated by Remedy Entertainment, already acclaimed for Control. The universe has expanded, the mechanics have been refined, but the essence remains: that of a writer confronted with a horror that he can only try to understand. Awarded three times at the 2023 Game Awards, this PS5 game flirts with a narrative masterpiece.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, Goat Simulator 3 offers a release, a sandbox where chaos is king. Pilgor, the most uncontrollable goat in video games, multiplies grotesque stunts, deliberate bugs and absurd references. In solo or multiplayer, the game combines crazy situations, stupid challenges and unpredictable mini-games. It’s total rubbish, and that’s why we love it.

Between these two extremes slips Cocoonan independent title that hides its game well. Directed by Jeppe Carlsen, one of the creative minds behind Limbo and Inside, here he abandons dark tones for a luminous and intuitive journey. The player manipulates dimensional orbs in an alien world, gradually discovering puzzle mechanics that are as ingenious as they are poetic. All without a word, just guided by the sensations and the settings.

A discreet emergency: after Tuesday, it will be too late

What makes this selection even more valuable is its temporary nature. All three games are only available until Tuesday November 5, 2025. After this date, the new batch of PS Plus games will take their place, and it will no longer be possible to add them to your account for free, unless you purchase them.

Once recovered, these titles of course remain playable indefinitely, as long as the PS Plus subscription is active. So simply “add them to the library” via the online store or directly on the console. No immediate download is required. A simple click to keep them, one forget to lose them forever.

The right reflex to not miss anything

Subscribers to Sony’s service know that the months follow one another but are not the same. There are blander selections, and then there are ones, like this one, that are worth taking two minutes to secure. Alan Wake 2 has not finished making headlines, Goat Simulator 3 is a cure for gloom, and Cocoon proves that it is still possible to innovate in independent gaming.

It’s not just free, but an opportunity to discover three radically different ways of approaching video games. Three voices, three looks, three strong proposals.
