Battlefield 6: Battle Royale will only offer duos and squads at launch

No single player mode on the program. Battlefield 6’s highly anticipated Battle Royale mode, called RedSec, will launch in Shadow Drop on October 28, 2025. According to information reported by ModernWarzone, only two team sizes will be available at launch: duets and the squads of four. Formerly known as Firestorm, this mode adopts a new identity and intends to impose itself against Fortnite or Call of Duty Warzone.

This surprise launch comes just a few weeks after the official release of Battlefield 6, which is already enjoying great popularity. RedSec mode should bring together up to 100 players per gamedivided only into groups of two or four. Those who were hoping to go solo or in larger groups will have to wait.

What does RedSec actually contain at launch?

According to the leak relayed on

The distribution mechanics are therefore simple but structured: no room for loners or odd groups. This restriction may well change in the weeks following release, but for now, options are limited.

Battlefield’s strategy to modernize its approach to Battle Royaleby learning lessons from Firestorm and avoiding the dispersion of formats. But this also risks frustrating certain player profiles, particularly fans of solo games or groups of five.

A risky bet, but a highly anticipated launch

The launch of the Shadow Drop mode adds an element of surprise and urgency that could increase player interest. But this approach also has its risks. If the gameplay appeals, the absence of certain options from the start could deter some. However, it is important to remember that the formats available could be expanded lateras some sources close to the project suggest.

With 100 players per game, RedSec promises to be an explosive experience. It remains to be seen whether the balance of the game and the fluidity of the combat will meet the demands of players already accustomed to the big names of the genre.
