Battlefield 6: EA hits hard and removes XP from lobbies with bots, here’s what’s changing

Electronic Arts and Battlefield Studios have officially updated Battlefield 6 For reduce winnings in bot-filled custom lobbies. While players there will still receive a 150% bonus for completing a match, Weapon Mastery XP and Challenge progression are now disabled.

This change does not concern that portal servers with activated botsused massively since the game’s release to “grind” XP quickly, often without real human opposition.

Rooms with bots deemed harmful to the game

EA explained this change with an analysis server data : A large number of lobbies were designed solely to accumulate XP, boost stats or quickly unlock cosmetics and distinctions.

According to the publisher, this situation compromised the quality of matchmaking and lengthened the waiting time in “classic” loungestaking up available server space. EA’s stated objective is now to highlight more balanced and authentic experiences, such as Hardcore Conquest or longer community games.

A community divided in the face of this decision

As is often the case with decisions that affect progression, reactions are shared. Some players welcome a return to a more “pure” multiplayer experience, welcoming an “expected” and “consistent” decision. But others express frustration with slow progress that this now implies.

The criticisms mainly relate to the time taken to complete weapon challenges and unlock accessoriesconsidered excessive without the help of bots. To mitigate this backlash, EA indicated that improvements to the progression system would be deployed in the coming days.

Battlefield 6 seeks a balance between grind and fun

With this nerf, EA confirms its desire to control how players interact with game progress. The freedom offered by the portal is still there, but the associated gains are now better regulated to preserve competitive balance.

This decision is part of a broader dynamic among AAA studios: limit “passive” optimization and refocus gameplay on active engagement, even if this can lengthen the unlock time.
