One game at a time, every 5 years
In an interview with VGC, Fleming returned to Sucker Punch’s post-Ghost of Yotei. Unlike Insomniac Games which can manage several projects at once, Sucker Punch wants to focus on one game after another. And Fleming even mentions the possibility of a return of Sly for the next project, even if the name of the license is only thrown out as a hypothesis like any other :
“ In truth, whatever we do next, whether it’s continuing Ghost or returning to Sly, the decision is really limited by, again, our preoccupation with focus and time, meaning we can only do one thing at a time. If we were good at juggling four projects, yes, we would do a remaster, and we would do another thing, and another, until we developed another one for the fans that would be very popular… But we can only do one thing. »
Fleming wants to make it clear that developing a game requires a commitment of around 5 years from Sucker Punch, and that despite all the possible good ideas, he can only choose one. A way of tempering expectations, even if some fans will be reassured to see that Sly is still considered a possibility within the studio. But we won’t be betting much on it.
