To mark the release of Battlefield 6, EA and DICE have launched a campaign that may delight players: exclusive rewards can be unlocked simply by watching Twitch streams. A well-thought-out strategy to energize the community from the first days, without forcing anyone to take out their bank card. But be careful, this operation is limited in time.
Quick reminder: how Twitch Drops worked during the beta
Before the official launch of the game, the developers had already tested the Twitch Drops system during the open beta phase. The principle was simple: by linking their EA account to Twitch and watching streams labeled “Drops activated”, players could unlock cosmetic items. This system had had some success, although it also generated frustration among some players who never received their rewards, despite respecting the conditions.
This first phase nevertheless made it possible to measure spectator engagement and the effectiveness of the system in creating anticipation around Battlefield 6. The publisher therefore decided to renew and expand the operation for the official launch.
An active rewards campaign until October 17
As soon as the game was released, a new wave of Twitch Drops was activated, valid for a limited time. To benefit from it, simply link your EA account to Twitch, then watch any Battlefield 6 stream that displays “Drops Enabled”. Unlike other events of this type, it doesn’t matter which streamer is followed: all content creators are eligible, whether they are known or not.
Rewards are gradually unlocked based on the time spent watching streams. There is no need to play or even buy anything to enjoy it.
Four exclusive items to collect
During this launch week, four new items are available:
- Versatility Skin (Soldier) : Obtained by subscribing or gifting a subscription to a Twitch channel.
- “Preums” plate : accessible after 1 hour of viewing.
- “Cyber Warfare” Weapon Pack : unlocked after 2 hours of viewing.
- Vehicle skin “Green Falcon” : the final reward, after 3 hours of viewing.
This content is only available until October 17. After this date, it will no longer be possible to obtain them, even later in the game. A real bonus for players present from the start.
An operation designed to unite players
With this Twitch Drops campaign, EA is clearly seeking to animate the community around the launch of the game. The system makes it possible to reward loyalty without imposing any particular effort: watch, unlock, recover. This type of initiative also encourages the exploration of new features in the game – new maps, new mechanics, balancing – while boosting visibility on Twitch.
Other Drops campaigns have already been announced, notably for the launch of Season 1 planned for the end of the month. Battlefield 6 therefore begins its run with an assumed community approach, which focuses on interaction rather than simple competition.
Watch out for bugs and omissions
Some players who participated in previous campaigns have reported issues with rewards not being awarded. To avoid unpleasant surprises, it is better to check that the accounts are correctly linked, that the rewards are claimed on time, and that the stream watched displays the official mention. Nothing is more frustrating than spending three hours watching a stream only to end up empty-handed.
