The party spirit descends on Pandora, but not without gunfire and chaos. Gearbox Software has just confirmed the release date of Borderlands 4’s very first paid DLC, called “How Rush Saved Mercenary Day”, and the least we can say is that this pack smells like powder… and stuffed turkey.
Announced at PAX Australia, this “Bounty Pack” adds a new scripted mission centered on the character of Rush, already well known to players as the leader of the Outbounders. The expansion will be available from November 20, 2025, right between two free updates, with an explosive winter atmosphere that promises to shake up the fictional holiday of Mercenaries’ Day.
A new villain, new weapons and a hint of chaos
This first DLC marks the start of the paid roadmap for Borderlands 4, with a short but content-dense format. The story features Rush facing a new enemy, “Mister Screw”, who will come to sow disorder during this annual celebration revisited with Borderlands style. The prize: new quests, exclusive equipment and cosmetic items to collect.
Gearbox specifies that Bounty Packs like this one will regularly expand the universe, alongside free updates like “Horrors of Kairos” (dedicated to Halloween) or the highly anticipated “Invincible Boss Update” planned by the end of the year.
A taste of future scripted content
For fans eager to learn more about the game’s narrative future, this first bounty pack will be followed by a second in the first quarter of 2026, pending the first major “Story Pack”. The latter promises an adventure equivalent to the emblematic extensions of previous episodes, with already some clues dropped about places and characters.
We know, for example, that the pack will be called “Vault of the Damned” and will feature “Mad Ellie”, as well asa new Ark hunter, a robot called C4SHwhose arsenal seems to revolve around dice and playing cards. An intriguing concept which confirms a desire for innovation while respecting the codes of franchising.
With an average score of 82/100 on OpenCritic and an enthusiastic reception since its release in September 2025, Borderlands 4 is beginning its second phase with panache. This first paid DLC should reassure players that this new era of Pandora is only just beginning.
