Call of Duty: a live-action film officially announced by Paramount

The announcement fell: the Call of Duty video game saga will enter the dark rooms. Paramount Pictures is in charge of this live-action adaptation project, a first for the first-person shooting franchise, born in 2003. No details on the scenario or the casting has yet been revealed, but the information has already reacted.

It is not yet specified if the film will be inspired by emblematic opus as Modern Warfare Or Black Opsbut everything seems to indicate a contemporary framework. By betting on a modern era, the film could touch a large audience, beyond only players.

Paramount promises a film up to Top Gun: Maverick

To reassure the skeptics, David Ellison, CEO of Paramount, spoke of an ambitious approach:
“We approach this film with the same disciplined and uncompromising commitment to excellence that guided our work on Top Gun: Maverick.”

This parallel is not trivial. With Top Gun: Maverick, Paramount managed to modernize a classic while seducing new generations. By taking up this recipe, the studio could transform Call of Duty into a lasting film franchise.

This intention seems to go beyond a single film. Several aspects would be envisaged to explore different periods of the saga, including its futuristic universes such as those of Black Ops.

An extensive project that could include TV series

In parallel with the feature film, television would also be in preparation, although no concrete information has yet been revealed on their content or format.

Despite the absence of a release date, the announcement of this film marks a turning point. Long mentioned, this adaptation finally comes into production. It remains to be seen whether it will be able to seduce fans of the first hour like modern war films lovers.
