New details about the film’s premiere were announced today on the official X account of the anime adaptation of “Witch on the Holy Night” (Japanese: “Mahoutsukai no Yoru”). You can find a trailer below.
Premiering in November 2026
“Witch on the Holy Night” is expected to open in Japanese cinemas on November 20, 2026. It has not yet been confirmed whether the film will also be shown in cinemas here. We’ll keep you updated.
The studio ufotable is responsible for the production of the evening filler. The companies Aniplex and TOHO are responsible for sales. Information about the director, screenwriter and character designer is currently pending.
The main roles of the Japanese cast include Haruka Tomatsu (Asuna Yuuki in “Sword Art Online”) as Aoko Aozaki and Kana Hanazawa (Ichika Nakano in “The Quintessential Quintuplets”) as Alice Kuonji.
The underlying visual novel from Type-Moon, the studio behind the “Fate” series, was first released in April 2012 for Windows PCs in Japan. The global release for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch followed in December 2022.
