A new trailer for the final film was released today on the X account of the anime adaptation of the “Rascal Does Not Dream” series (Japanese: “Seishun Buta Yarou”). You can find the video at the bottom of this article.
Premiering in October 2026
The new film entitled “Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dear Friend”, which adapts the finale of the light novel series of the same name by Hajime Kamoshida and Keiji Mizoguchi, will be released in Japanese cinemas on October 16, 2026.
The CloverWorks studio is once again responsible for the production of the evening filler, with Souichi Masui (“Akiba Maid War”) once again directing and Masahiro Yokotani (“Re:ZERO”) writing the script.
The title song “Turn the World Upside Down,” which is featured in the trailer, comes from Reina Ueda, who also voices the character Touko Kirishima.
In this country, the publisher peppermint anime has already released the first series and the first three films of the franchise on Blu-ray. The second series, titled “Rascal Does Not Dream of Santa Claus,” which takes place directly before the upcoming film, can be streamed in its original language with subtitles on Crunchyroll.
