The anime adaptation of »Chainsaw Man« is one of the greatest successes in recent years – and new statements from MAPPA now underline the enormous reach of the series. We summarize.
Record on Crunchyroll
As MAPPA CEO Manabu Otsuka recently revealed in an interview, the first season of “Chainsaw Man” set the record for the highest number of views on Crunchyroll at the time of its broadcast (October to December 2022) – although it remains unclear to which specific metric this information refers.
Unfortunately, the streaming service is known for its lack of transparency in this regard and usually does not reveal any official data, which is why such insights only occur very rarely. As is well known, “Solo Leveling” is now at the top of the Crunchyroll charts, as Sony announced in June 2025.
The anime adaptation of “Chainsaw Man” so far consists of a twelve-part series that ran in simulcast on Crunchyroll from October to December 2022, as well as a sequel film, which is also now available on demand. A sequel that adapts the “Assassins Arc” is in the works.
